The story of Vanha Mylly
Vanha Mylly is part of Jämsänkoski’s industrial history. Designed by architect Bernhard Blom, the mill was completed at Rekolankoski in 1900 as part of the area’s Jugendstil-influenced factory environment. In 1982,
Vanha Mylly was designated a heritage building to be preserved as a monument to industrialisation.The mill served the local community for over 50 years until operations ceased in 1952. The building then found new purposes, from a fish hatchery to a summer café. In 1969, following renovation, Vanha Mylly reopened as a restaurant — a role it has held ever since.
Today, this historic setting offers a unique backdrop for dining, gatherings and experiences — honouring over a century of history.
