HISTORY

Vanha Mylly is part of Jämsänkoski’s industrial history. Designed by architect Bernhard Blom, the mill was completed at Rekolankoski in 1900 as part of the area’s Jugendstil-influenced factory environment.

Honouring history

The mill served the local community for over 50 years until operations ceased in 1952. The building then found new purposes, from a fish hatchery to a summer café.

In 1969, following renovation, Vanha Mylly reopened as a restaurant — a role it has held ever since.Today, this historic setting offers a unique backdrop for dining, gatherings and experiences — honouring over a century of history.

In 1982, Vanha Mylly was designated a heritage building to be preserved as a monument to industrialisation.
